Fuse Darebin presents an evening of exploratory and reverent performances at the Darebin Arts Centre.
Nikodimos and his Orchestra explore unorthodox approaches to orchestral music. They activate unconventional spaces with deep and spiritually charged music. This is a rare appearance by an accomplished ensemble, presenting a soundscape of moments of improvisation underwritten by a unique score. With standout talents like Tamil Rogeon on viola, Komang on vocals and Annwen Roberts on violin, they perform original compositions with and by Nikodimos, a compelling woodwind player with a technicoloured essence.
Also performing on the night will be composer Aarti Jadu in collaboration with creative technologist Joli Boardman. Aarti Jadu and Joli Boardman’s practices converge on stage through live light and sound to bring an entrancing performance that submerges the audience into their exploration of the world under the horizon line. Aarti's sound dynamically ebbs in the realm of cinematic and experimental, with fluid rhythms that dance between and beyond expectation, accented by spoken expressions of the inner voice and intimate prayers in the form of soliloquies. To evoke the essence of this innerworld, Joli responds with a seamless interplay of visualisations and lasers, exploring themes of duality and darkness with beams which cut across the space, expanding and contracting the scene.

| AARTI JADU | Aarti Jadu's live performance evolves from a mélange of various folk and classical styles, integrating elements such as electronic ambient and bass music, artificial vocal manipulation, and synthesizers. Her compositions, exemplified by pieces like L’école de La Caz, highlight autotuned chorales that underscore the significance of communal folk music for societal wellness—a musical value rooted in Aarti's spiritual and cultural upbringing. Jadu composes cinematic, atmospheric pieces performed live using both electronic and acoustic instrumentation. Whether conducting ensembles, collaborating, or performing solo, her sound is characterized as "down-regulating" and "trance-like," finding its place across diverse landscapes and scenes within Naarm (Melbourne). |
| JOLI BOARDMAN | Joli is a creative technologist, videographer and artist based in Naarm. Creating introspective, multi-sensory work that explores universal scale, frequencies of perception, eastern philosophy, and parallels of the macro and the supermassive. He seamlessly blends elements of space, sound, light, and technology to create thought-provoking, immersive experiences that challenge perceptions and inspire introspection. Whether through light-based installations, music videos, or interactive artworks, Joli's work showcases a unique vision, dedication to conceptual development and high level execution. He is deeply passionate about using technology as a tool for emotive expression that connects audiences to themself, the earth and one another. |
| NIKODIMOS AND HIS ORCHESTRA | Nikodimos Nick Millman Paleologoudias is a multi-instrumentalist, producer, composer and song-writer from Naarm (Melbourne) with an unmistakeable technicoloured essence. He is featured on a track with Hiatus Kyote (Everything's Beautiful), is a member of Naarm Punk Funk outfit Proto Moro and has an illustrious solo career spanning many genres and instruments. |
