JOY and Firebird: Live Film Premiere

Mature dance collective Fine Lines team up with award-winning director and choreographer Katrina M Rank, master lighting designer, Jamie Henson, videographer, Takeshi Kondo and photographer Robert Wagner to present two provocative films at the Thornbury Picture House.

Thornbury Picture House premieres two outstanding new dance films by Fine Lines, a mature artist collective.

Firebird (2021) is an exploration of the unrelenting desire for more. JOY (2022) celebrates the smaller things that sustain us in challenging times. Directed by award-winning choreographer, Katrina M Rank in collaboration with master lighting designer, Jamie Henson, videographer, Takeshi Kondo, resident photographer, Robert Wagner and artists of Fine Lines, these two provocative films represent two sides of the COVID coin. Together they show the extremes of human emotion in the most locked down city in the world.

The fear and courage, isolation and connection, struggle and acceptance, the ravages of fire and the healing of water.
