Defiant Lives tells the story of the rise and fight of the disability rights movement in the United States, Britain and Australia. The documentary pulls together footage of protests and interviews with international disability rights activists who literally changed the world we live in, by demanding access “to boldly go where everyone else has gone before”.

Content note: The documentary features footage of historical institutions and discusses themes such as institutionalisation, historical abuse and ableism.
