The Odyssey
Artist: Nicole Robertson
Artist Statement
The linocut prints in this altarpiece loosely depict scenes from The Odyssey set in Reservoir. Drawing inspiration from the post-war migrant aesthetic of the neighbourhood, the exterior of the altarpiece is decorated with pieces of ornamental furniture collected from hard rubbish. The aim is to recreate Reservoir's visual vernacular in a way that is playful and pays homage to the suburb.
