CLOSING EVENT: FUSE Block Party
Are you ready for this? FUSE Spring 2022 is ending with a bang: the FUSE Block Party.
Join us for a FREE community bash, curated by Lucreccia Quintanilla, with live bass music, bric-a-brac stalls, body adornment and a boogie in the dark.
This signature closing event for FUSE is an inclusive, participatory and multi-arts celebration of identity, self-expression, and intersectionality.
The showcase features a vintage flea market, paper costume making workshop for kids with Dell Stewart, a celebratory Pasifika floral head-dress workshop with Veisinia Tonga, chalk mural making with artist Tom Civil, live musical performances by Decibels artists, family friendly No Lights No Lycra dance (lights won't be completely out) and the "Every Dream Home" art installation by Nat Thomas and music by DJ Naycab.
The afternoon of music, play and art-making culminates in a dress-up parade lead by UKI, a moving interactive kinetic structure which houses the sound system, and the curator-in-residence, Lucreccia Quintanilla, (aka DJ General Feelings) on the decks.
Then there's the grand finale: our special FUSE Dress-up Parade.
Come to the party wearing a costume that expresses yourself or design one at our free on-site workshop.
The FUSE Block Party is a celebration of self-expression and a chance to be your own canvas.
Bass is a theme throughout. The sound system is a moving interactive kinetic structure called UKI, and local youth music studio Decibels will be producing bass-led music for the event.
In fact, Lucreccia is the first woman to create a hand built sound system (known as General Feelings) on Australian shores.
So what are you waiting for? Join us and get your bass on.
FUSE Block Party is an accessible event.
